StrapSwap: Trade Second Apple Watch Strap Online

The Apple Watch was announced a couple days ago. Now, there’s one interesting thing about what comes in the box when you buy it: two straps! That’s right. You get two of the same color / material band, but in two different sizes – small and medium large. We’ve come across a website called StrapSwap that allows you to swap / trade your second Apple Watch strap online!

The idea of the website is actually pretty, pretty neat. The idea of including two bands is actually not that surprising since wearables – whether smart-watches or simple headphones – always come in different sizes since, you know, every human is not the same! Recent headphones I have bought come with two other earbud sizes, for example.

Now, the thing is, when you bundle multiple sizes of the same thing with your electronic device, there is a strong chance that the customer will only ever wear one of them. This is true in the case of the earbuds I mentioned in the last paragraph, and it will also be true with the Apple Watch. Only one of the two bands will fit you properly, and you’ll probably be keeping that one while the other differently-sized band collects dust in some drawer.

Now, this is where StrapSwap fits in. It is a great opportunity to actually trade the spare Apple Watch band with something you will actually wear. Say you got a red-color band to go with your running shoes. You could swap the unfit band with another color that actually fits you, and goes well with some other outfit. Both the trader and the tradee benefit!

StrapSwap is up online at the link below. You can go ahead and make yourself an account, add your spare Apple Watch strap, and the strap you’re interested in. You can then browse other people’s listed straps, and strike a deal!

Sites like StrapSwap only work well when loads of people use it. So, here’s hoping people do actually end up using it.

Keep in mind that the Apple Watch comes with two different bands, but whatever device you buy will come in one of two possible sizes: 38mm vs 42mm.
